BEACHES REMAIN OPEN TODAY!!!

Due to the pending storm Ocean Rescue staff have begun to remove our lifeguard stands from the beach.  We will continue to patrol as the weather allows.

CALL 911 IN AN EMERGENCY!!!

We will have strong rip currents all day long as well as a significant risk of shore break and sandbar injuries. Please swim near shore and keep a very close eye on your children!

We will have strong rip currents all day long as well as a significant risk of shore break and sandbar injuries.  Please swim near shore and keep a very close eye on your children!

Our large surf is due to several storms headed our way:

Hurricane Danielle has already left but is giving us our swell
Hurricane Earl is on it's way with possible chance of landfall
A third storm which has a 90% chance of becoming a named storm.

BEACHES ARE RED FLAGGED!!!   NO SWIMMING!!!

We will have strong rip currents all day long as well as a significant risk of shore break and sandbar injuries.  Due to this we have put up our flags for the day.

Beaches will most likely be red flagged tomorrow well into next week.  We apologize for any inconvenience however we are unable to control the weather.  This is our high season for storms so sit back and enjoy the show from Mother Nature.

RED FLAGS ARE UP BEACHES ARE CLOSED!!!

All Currituck County beaches are closed to swimming today.  Ocean conditions are rough and unpredictable and the risk of getting caught in a rip current is high.  

Please help the lifeguards by listening to the rules and  find something else to keep you and your family busy!

Beaches will remain closed through today and we will reassess tomorrow morning!!

You may enter the Atlantic Ocean at your own risk if you are a competent surfer riding a fiberglass board 5ft or longer with a leash.

Advisories: Hot and humid today, drink plenty of water!

We do have another round of jellyfish today, most will not sting but if they do rinse with vinegar and hot water.  Most reactions are mild and will fade after 15-20 minutes.  More severe reactions should be brought to our attention immediately.

Be sure to thank your lifeguard for their hardwork. Most of them will be leaving this week as school starts up.

Advisories: Another hot and humid day on our hands.  Drink plenty of water and keep those umbrellas up!  Reapply sunscreen every couple of hours or more often if you are in the water.

Advisories: Cold water is back due to our offshore winds.  It looks like they may be with us for a few days so be prepared with some other activities.  There is also a chance of afternoon thunderstorms again today, if you see lightning or hear thunder you do run the risk of being struck yourself, take cover!!
