HURRICANE EARL UPDATE:
A MANDATORY EVACUATION is in effect for all visitors on the Currituck Outer Banks as of 8:30 a.m. on September 2.
All beaches in the Currituck Outer Banks are RED FLAGGED and closed to swimming. This means NO WATER ENTRY is permitted due to strong currents and heavy surf. We will have strong rip currents all day long as well as a significant risk of shore break and sandbar injuries.
Strong winds of at least 40-50 mph with gusts of up to 70 mph are expected by 10 p.m. Thursday evening and will continue until approximately 11 a.m. Thursday morning.
